We supervise the financial market
DAFM (Dutch Authority Financial Market) is an independent authority that contributes to safeguarding the stability of the financial system by amplifying the protection of investors and promoting stable and orderly financial markets. As an independent market conduct authority, we contribute to a sustainable financial system and prosperity in the Netherlands.
Our mission
Our mission is to contribute to a stable financial system characterized by high confidence, well-functioning markets, and a high level of consumer protection as well as sustainability.
In pursuing its objectives, DAFM applies a prudential approach in line with the international standards, in accordance with the principle of proportionality. This approach is implemented in a professional manner, thereby ensuring an independent, forward-looking and risk-based supervision.
What we do?
DAFM monitors and analyses trends in the financial market. We assess the financial health of individual companies, the various sectors and the financial market as a whole. We examine the risks and control systems in financial companies and supervise compliance with statutes, ordinances and other regulations. We do this by regulating the conduct of nearly 65,000 businesses. We are the prudential supervisor for 49,000 firms and we set specific standards for 18,000 firms. As a prudential regulator, it has a general objective to promote the safety and soundness of the firms it regulates
Together, we can do more
